How a Legal “Blawg” Kicks Butt

When I started Construction Law Musings back in December of 2008, I
did so on a whim. I had heard that a blog was a good way to get ideas out there
and that I could get some benefit, so I dove right in and charged ahead.

Before I started the blog, I had profiles in what I thought were all the
“right” places, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, JDSupra, etc. but did not see much of a payoff.

Thanks to Grant Griffiths for the opportunity.

Guest Posts- A great way to interact

As I was catching up on my woefully behind blog reading, I ran across this great post from Grant Griffiths at Blog for Profit.  The general point is a good one:  Guest Post and make it good.

Whils this likely seems obvious, one could be inclined to keep your best stuff to your own blog.  This is counterproductive for two reasons (both of which I will steal from Grant):  1.  if you are going to be before a whole new audience, why not make yourself look good, and 2.  you won't get invited back.  In either of these instances, you lose much of the "pop" that you could get from the post.

I have had guest posts at my Musings blog and have guest posted at Green Building Law Update and the Construction Lien Blog.  In both of these instances, I was honored to get the opportunity and sincerly hope that I gave a new perspective to the readers of those blogs.  I know that I appreciate the efforts of those who guest post at Musings and hope that my "Guest Post Friday" experiment continues to be a success.

Thanks for reading.
